Yesterday I delivered a webinar to the UNFPA HQ in my role as Wellbeing Coach and Facilitator at 10Eighty. The topic was Resilience, Agility and Flexibility in times of Change.

There is no doubt in my mind that medication is a real need for many of us at certain times in our lives. SSRIs can be a life saver and game changer. But yesterday I shared a little on Chris Johnstone's work on natural SSRIs, to help us navigate life's challenges.

SSRI in this context stands for:

S – Strategies

What practical actions can I take?

e.g. asking for help, using problem-solving approaches, meditation techniques, attention to diet and exercise?

S – Strengths

What personal qualities can I draw on?

What has helped me before? e.g. courage, determination, sense of humour, flexibility, ability to communicate

R – Resources

Who or what can support me?

e.g. friends, mentors, self-help books, places we feel safe, support groups

I – Insights

What perspective or learning might help me?

Which perspectives or sayings might I find useful. Eg. what would a wise friend do in this situation?

Sometimes the resilience we need in tough times is already there if we remember to look for it. What are your natural SSRIs?
